Arising

The world wasn't always this dim of light and lost of hope.Many years ago, while the realm flourished and prospered under the rule of the ancient families and direct descendants of Perzhyn Firebringer, a lone stag with limited power and the blood of Shadow running through his veins found potential in joining them as a servant. Then a steward, and later on, a well trusted knight, protecting them at the cost of his own life.But he was not interested in serving til some battle or old age itself claimed his life. No, it wasn't until he secured his position, that he begun to slowly conspire against those he's sworn his loyalty to, and that with lesser, albeit still powerful houses and families. And once the time was right, the coup had been successfully committed.And Zaerath of House Lozier became the new ruler of the realm. Not as a king, but as a Sovereign.

In order to secure his rule however, Sovereign Lozier ordered those with even a single drop of Perzhyn's blood to be publically executed. Each and every single book, scroll and any other source describing the Old Faith was burned without hesitation, and families that fought valiantly against this new power were mercilessly destroyed, root and stem and all.But everything related to Perzhyn and the Old Faith weren't Lozier's only targets. "Halfbloods" were actively persecuted and murdered, too. Simply to keep things "orderly" and "pure".Not that Lozier cared much for purity. It was simply a tactic to keep hopes low, and rebellions from forming, as well as redirecting attention to a scapegoat. Little did he know however, that his very own daugther, Falyne, would fall for and form a sacred bond with someone that wasn't of Shadow descendance at all. Someone from The Forests, Azhar of House Khadir had claimed her heart, and she had claimed his.But Lozier wasn't one to discriminate. Upon finding out about this affair, he had instantly declared war on the entirety of House Khadir, offering no terms whatsoever, and had beheaded Azhar Khadir with his very own claws after putting the younger stag's castle to the torch. Bringing it back home to his daughter then as some sort of "trophy", he had torn her throat out, thus ending her life as well.

And that's where the story of our main protagonist, Tanith, truly begins.Born to Falyne and hatched with Azhar's nourising flames, a loyalist had snuggled Tanith out of danger's way when she was only just a cub, and raised her until she was old enough to care for herself. She was destined to a life forever on the run however, as Lozier knew of her existence, and liked not to keep it tainting his name.But while he also simultaneously tried to keep the people from revolting, a secret group had formed still, calling themselves the Resurrectionists.They were led by Ignatius, a bastard descendant of Perzhyn. And together with Valerion from the Neverending Storms, he led a large following of fierce, angry outcasts, in the hopes of one day overthrowing Lozier's stolen throne, and bring back peace and prosperity to the realm.It only figures that Tanith would join them. Feeling no connection other than that of pure hatred and fear towards her grandfather, she willed to one day do to him what he had done to Azhar.But Lozier's eyes and ears are everywhere.

Unsure of whether this band of outcasts were a true threat or not, and weighting the advantages against the disadvantages of eliminating them, Lozier offered those in his Council a chance to prove themselves and rise in ranks. And ambitious as he was, Cyvren of House Yaetes instantly volunteered, and had his thirdborn son, Cyril, join them to learn of their secrets, where they were hiding, and with how many they were. Having no other choice but to accept this order, Cyril had done exactly as he had been told to do, and joined Ignatius' cause under an alias.He wasn't getting any more popular among the Resurrectionists however, and thus decided to take a shortcut by charming Tanith, who was by now much closer to Ignatius and Valerion both, as well as a few others. His advances succeeding, he learned all that he needed from her to impress his difficult-to-impress father.Though not without truly falling for Tanith first.

Knowing now all that he needed to know, Cyvren led a sudden attack on the Resurrectionists' main hideout. Cyril couldn't care less for them, but with his heart now belonging to her, he had urged Tanith to go far away in advance.When she responded with great confusion first, he explained to her his true identity and purpose, and kissed her one last time before she staggered away, feeling utterly betrayed as battle cries echoed all throughout the caverns.And ever since, Tanith's been wandering from one place to the other. A nomad with no true purpose left, and with survival alone on her mind, while forever struggling to keep one step ahead of Lozier's knives. Those have become the factors that mainly identified her now that her old self was long gone.But despite the hardships and fears, she had made one final promise to herself. One that she intended to keep."If I cannot sink my teeth and claws into Lozier's throat, then I will definitely sink them into Cyril's of House Yaetes...... Til we meet again."

Her ability on holding grudges are larger still however, which truly shows she's got some Shadow streaming through her veins. But grudges aside, her other emotions can easily get the better of her too; she's just an overly emotional individual in general.She's never met her mother and was raised only by her father, aunts and a couple of wet nurses. Despite this, she doesn't feel angry towards her, as she knows that Falyne could never get close to her, even if she wanted to. But Azhar had made up for Falyne's absence, and raised Tanith with as much love as he possibly could...... Which, unfortunately, didn't seem to make any difference with Azhar's mother, Tanith's grandmother. Alive still to this day along with her daughters, she blames Tanith for the death of her son and the destruction of House Khadir.

For Azhar is both of those, and more.Passionate, hot tempered and fierce, Azhar is not one the best guys out there, and his sense of justice stretches only so far. For him, family comes first and foremost; he couldn't care much for anything else. He did secretly join Ignatius' cause however when Ignatius was quite very young himself, but it was simply to secure a safe future for his cub, and for Falyne, too.That aside, Azhar's the youngest of the family; he's got two older sisters and one bastard brother. But being the first "trueborn" son of the family (and especially after two girls), Azhar had been incredibly spoiled during his cubhood. Surprisingly however, this didn't turn him into a bitter, selfish and entitled person; if anything, it might be why he's been so affectionate towards Tanith during their short time together, a time in which he's certainly spoiled her lots, too.Additionally, the sigil of House Khadir is a Barbary lion holding up a sword in front of a rising sun.
